Return from Jersey

Over the next few days I'll be putting some picutres up from my recent trip to the beautiful Island of Jersey. Great trip and a big thankyou to the Davies Family for putting us all up, feeding us, waking us and organising us. Congratulations to all the boys with a strong show from the Sennen crew. Sam Bleakley finishing Firstin the Senior Division and then Runner up in the Open British Champs. Juniors Mike Lay fourth and Matt 'Scoop' Travers for his third in Juniors and James Parry for making both finals of the European Longboard Tour and third in the British Open. The only Brit to make the final in which the French ruled the Day with Reme Arauzo taking the top prize in the first event of the tour. Ben Skinner won the British Open in a display of the most pewerful drop-knee turns ever. This shot is James Parry ruling the nose and keeping his sponsors happy.

'Jersey Royals'

I'm off to Jersey tommorrow with a few of the stylemongers from Sennen for the British and European Longboard Championships. Ben "Skindog" Skinner will be defending his title of Euro Champ and will be working hard against the other Brits and some pretty hot French competitors. Being an old duffer at the ripe old age of 38, I'm there to shoot photos and cheer the boys on. However, if the waves are glassy, peeling and cohesive for some mellow logging I may put a late entry into the Masters of the British Champs. In the mean time 'all hail the Ale' and Jersey he we come. This is British and Euro contender James Parry, UK 2008 Stylemaster on his home turf Sennen.

'Dust'

Sorry for the absense, too much work. This image was used by the German Magazine 'Surfers'. The editor, Lars kindly used this on his opening page to represent the new beginnnings of their magazine. The shaping bay is a place where new boards are created and that can take the surfer to where they want to be. A great shaper will certainly give a surfer the tools to discover something new, whether a feeling and movement or quite simply a board that provides flat out speed.

Knotted

Another knot in the frame. I love the lines and grain around the knot in any piece of wood. My brothers a carpenter and see why he loves working wood. Some shapers like Greg Noll , the big wave legend of the sixties shapes beautiful replica Hawaiian boards and incorporates each part of the wood adding to the beauty. To see a true craftsman watch the extras on the surf film 'One California Day' and see what I mean.

Choice Longboards

I came across this beauty last year at the European Fish Fry in Devon, A Rich pavel shape and a real classic log and a bit of a show stopper.

Sunny days

Local stylist Rich Emerson doing his best impression of legendary shaper Dick Brewer in front of his beautiful 7'10" Harbour Singlefin. This weekend we also have the Surf Rodeo in Sennen. This happens every year and is in memory of our friend Ash Moffet who lost his young life about four years back. The rodeo involves riding fridge doors, blow up dolphins and any other strange surfing craft. Anyone getting naked usually wins.
