Amped UK

Martin Webster and war vet and member of 'Voices of War' who played at Sunset Surf on Saturday evening with Rich Emerson hooting as usual in the background. The group shot shows the amazing support there from the British Royal Legion, Royal Navy and Royal Marines Surf Club who provided some great support in the water and out. A classic weekend for some brave souls that have found a different kind of therapy.

Combat Surfers Amped Up!!

As Vinnie Jones said 'It's been emotional'. This weekend was another major eye opener for me. The success of Operation Amped was huge. One vet told me he had not laughed so much in six years since leaving the Army. The smiles, the laughter and the stoke was contagious. I was there taking photos for my good friend Rich Emerson, super fantastic man of the atlantic. The event was supported by the British Royal Legion, Combat Stress, and extra manppower from Royal Navy and Royal Marines. The six vets who attended are all suffering from Post Traumatic Stess Disorder, they took it in their stride and gave it 100% and the aim of using surfing as a therapy to the PTSD certainly hit the mark. Surfing rules!

Combat Surfers
Just to remind those of us out there that would like to show there support that my good friend Rich Emerson is hosting the first 'Operation Amped UK surf camp'at Gwithian beach near St Ives. Inspired by what he saw last year at a similar event in California the surf camp is aimed at creating awareness and helping former or serving military personel suffering from Post Traumatic Stress and those that have lost limbs whilst serving in the British Forces. I'm doing an article for Drift about Richies story, himself a sufferer of PTSD, and his surfing. If you have no idea what these people go through believe me when I say I have been moved to tears over the past few weeks hearing details of Richies own suffering. Even if your anti-war, don't ignore those who are simply doing a job. Its the politicians that need a big rocket up their fat arses. Thats you Mr Brown! For sale
I've been surfing quite a bit lately and neglecting the chance to take any new shots, apart from Pazza, who always happens to be off somewhere at the moment. Anyway, this was one of my first shots presented on the blog and one of my favourites, not a bad seller either!!! Looks great blown up and framed if anyone wants a copy for their office, study, bedroom or lounging area. Please drop me a line if any of my shots are of interest to your needs, whether they're needed for promotional postcards or commercial use let me know.

Summer, Autumn,Winter?
When speaking to my friend Rich Emerson last night we spoke of being positive, looking forward to events happening in the future and generally keeping the old pecker up. However, in what seems to be some seriously shit weather I can only hope the waves keep coming and the wind drops a little to reveal some Penwithian gems.
