A new thread

My Dad created this great shot for his local camera club competitions. He's a bit more technical than me and takes the extra bit of time to set things up. He set this one up on the highly polished dinner table to gain the reflections. This maybe the last post before Christmas so I would like to wish everyone a very Happy Christmas and full service will be resumed when we return from visiting the family up in Brighton. All the best to my fellow bloggers and surfers of the world.

How low can you go?

A recent photo I've used not so long ago. Ben Skinner is a UK powerhouse of the dropknee turn and he drives these lower than anyone and into a complete roundhouse. This weekend he won the final leg of the European Longboard tour and finished third overall on the tour. Other finishers in the top ten were Local boys James Parry and Sam Bleakley.

Master and commander

An old photo of Tyler Hatzikian. I've been looking at his boards lately, he really is a master craftsman but a few days back I was talking of drop knee turns. Comments welcome but in my mind no one does it better.

My Hat looks on.

Rainy days, windy days, blown out swell. The north coast is a mess but there is hope. The South Coast is offering some winter groomers.

Price drop

Fuel is coming down in price, I wonder if it will ever reach the same price as when these pumps were operating. Living out here in West Penwith the price of fuel does make you really thing about your surfing. All day searhing is now a costly affair.

Bicentenial anniversary

My 200th Post. Unidentified surfer coming out of a vicious top turn on a speed run, you have to admire the almost perfect stance, the low centre of gravity and look at the wake left in the trail of yet another beautifully executed turn onboard another classically hand crafted Gulf Stream 9'6" and looking to bury the rail on the next bottom turn!!! Actually this is a rare snap shot in time of myself surfing, looking like an egg cup, skinny legs, too many pasties up top, what you see is a chunky brother letting the inertia of a pasty fueled belly guide me on my way. Chunk on my surfing brothers and sisters, heres to another 100 blogs and heres to Turkey and Cranberry Pasties this Crimble. Photo: Mel Sedgwick

Knee bender

I do love a good drop knee turn. The masters say its a functional move that buries the tail, shortens the rail and makes you wail! Whoo-hooo! Drop those knees brothers. Joe Davies groovin'

Shape up

A variety of templates at my friends shaping bay. As soon as he's back from world travels we're back in there whether he likes it or not, too many ideas and foam to mow.

Tag

This photograph is by my wife Jill. It is a section of an identification tag found upon a cornish fishing boat. She has not altered the image in any way. Part of it's charm and appeal for her is in the peeling back of layers to reveal previous ownner's tags. It is this sense of history that has become the inspiration for a new phase of paintings for her. Check out her blog to see more.

One Devon Day

After watching Alex Knost in One California day this morning whilst watching Jago crawl and now climbing up onto all obstacle before him, I rememebered this old shot of Mr Knost, stylin.
