teach me yours ways..

Rob Wright has been coaching James Parry in the ways of shaping and this board is the one James has taken to the Duct Tape Invitational in Biarritz this weekend. Here's hoping he got it right and brings back the goods. Go pazza.

Ahhhh the sweet smell of resin

Myself and friend Larry went on a trip to Seabase in Newquay to visit james Parry shape his new board under the guidance of Rob Wright. When we arrived he had just finished and it was a great looking shape. I also popped in to see Nick the glasser and took a few random snaps. To see more you can go to my new website here and look at the tinted glass gallery. I do love that smell of resin, how about you?

Shapes and shaves.

Took these ages ago after Rob Wright had shaped a great board for me up at Seabase in Newquay. The shaping bay is a great place to shoot, often restricted in terms of space but full of things to shoot. Grabbed this shaving of the floor and placed it back from where it once came. Even the stinger is crying out to be in the curl.

Slide 65 Surfboards and Surf Action

Shaper and Purveyor of quality surfboards Rob Wright. Off on his own in the far corner of a south coast logging spot. Look out for some super fine logs that Rob is shaping for myself and Rich at Surf Action. Shaped by Rob with some fine glass work done by Nick at Seabase in Newquay, these two boards will be fine examples local companies working together to promote each other. You can see more about this on the Surf Action website here. I'll keep you posted on the progress but needless to say we're both super excited with Rob getting in the shaping bay next week.

Tints and Swirls at Slide 65

The glasser for Slide 65 finally got his chance to create his own magic with resin tints. believe it or not in the UK we tend to be a little conservative, solid colours and tints, comp bands with the occassional checkered nose, James Parry's new model which he's taking to Noosa is a beautiful thing. The shape, the glassing, the blended concave and the tints. Lets us embrace the swirl, the multi coloured log. Good luck to James in Noosa and let rip on the point young man.

Slide 65 surfboards and James Parry

The new model James has been riding is looking mighty fine and personally its great to see James riding a log. He rides every board he picks up so well and when he chooses a single fin log I'm stoked to be behind the camera. I'm also stoked to be helping Rob Wright at Slide 65 develop some of the ideas for marketing the model. I have a feeling this year is going to be a very creative. James is off to Noosa this year for the festival and I'm sure he'll turn a few heads as usual.

"Get the logs ready"

My new log. Happy New Year to me too.. Been riding this beauty from Slide 65 at Woolercoombe, North Devon the past few days and I have to say this board is amazing. I rode it on New Years Day in shoulder high peelers and then yesterday in slightly bigger just to see how she would go. Oh my god....get the logs ready.

My new lovely log from Slide 65.

Rob Wright at Slide 65 Surfboards just shaped me this beautiful custom log. I'm so stoked with it and can't wait to get it waxed up and in the water tomorrow. The board has a beautiful comp stripe and subtle blue and green tints, the most beautiful glass on pivot, square tail, blended concave and sleek outline . So so happy, Thanks Rob.

Just heard the great news that Rich Emerson my partner in Surf Action has just retained his UK Stylemaster title in the Masters division with Rob Wright who shapes the lovely Slide 65 surfboards coming in second. Congrats to you both. I was due to enter myself but a huge gash in my head last weekend and seven stitches kept me away, so they were lucky really!!!!!
