I've used these postcards before but this past weeknd made me want to post them up again, three days of crisp sunny weather, great waves and sunset surfs. I gave into the boots this sunday! I should have been out here snapping but after weeks of gales, cabin fever had well and truly set in and cobwebs needed blasting away.
Its not too bad getting there but getting back can be hell for an old bugger like me. Alex Knost putting his toes out there.
This past weekend saw the 2009 UK Stylemaster take place in Devon, not great conditions but the 'super fantastic man of the atlantic' Rich Emerson took advantage of riding his old Scott Dillon, ploughing through the walls of white water at Saunton sands and brought home the Masters title. The event is based around 1960's equipment and open reigning champ James Parry came in third unfortunaley losing his title, the open win went to Elliot Dudley.
A clean swell has arrived on our shores today, not one of those out of control new swells, just a sweet little swell, clean pealers and for the log and some funky inside sections for the smaller vehicle. Roll on tommorrow.
Many people in Penwith will recognise this person as an interesting character with a style of his own. Unfortunately no longer operating UK Soul which was set up to create awareness of the old classic style of surfing and the legends that followed. A few years ago we both bought a pair of classic boards, I bought a Terry Martin shaped 9'4" Hobie Vintage which I regrettably sold. This is Rich Emerson redirecting on his 9'6" Dale Velzy which I hope he'll sell me one day!!
Often seen surfing in the Penwith or Kerrier areas Nick Radford is a smooth surfer who seems to ride for the joy of it. This was a back lit shot that suggests an alien element. Small day, lots of fun.
