Strrrrrretch fives and Hip Wiggles

This years Hip Wigglers was Stretch Five central. Everyone was at it and they look so good when done well. A little harder for us older Hip Wigglers or should that be Hip Replacements, I can get down there but getting back up needs a whole new yoga regime put in place, less cake and a whole lot more flexibility. This is Matt Travis styling.

Nine Plus, five over and matt travis

Matt ('kaf' or 'scoop') Travis being super casual as usual. This little left has been pretty fun lately but who knows how long it will be here with our changeable banks here in the wild west. `Slide 65 surfboards and Nine Plus wetsuits have got a great team running now with Matt, Mikey Lay and James Parry representing them both over here and strangely enough there all from the wild west of Cornwall. Must be our fickle waves that has made them so good.

Kaf and slide 65

Matt Travis is a creative chap being a graphic design student at Falmouth Uni, on the logs he rides he cuts a creative style which is really nice to watch. On his new Slide 65 Log he was ripping yesterday on the South Coast.

Mr Travis

Matt Travis is also at Falmouth Uni and by his own admission surfing a little too much lately. Bloody good though, seen here right on the far end of the board.

Matt Travis

Insight51 and Slide 65 team rider Kaf was on a role at the Hip Wigglers Invitational. Making the final was epic and everyone surfed so well. Kaf has some seriously good bottom turns happening now and was making the most of the long lefts.

Kaf testing

Matt 'Kaf' Travis laying it down on his Slide 65 Log. We have such a great crew of loggers down here in the Wild West and Kaf is one of them. On the Slide 65 team he has also been picked up by Nine Plus Wetsuits who bravely have put a huge apology on their blog for the quality of their former suits. I hope they do get the suits sorted as they are so nice and warm. This is Kaf testing his in the drizzle!

Matt 'Scoop' Travis

Since Scoop got his Log a few weeks ago I have been so keen to get some shots. Not ideal, it was a dull day with no light but no matter, Scoop was stylin yesterday down here in the wild west. Thats local legend Fuzz Bleakley looking on as another of the local groms has matured into a great longboarder.

Hi all I'm up in Brighton at the moment catching up with folks but would love it if you could all follow the link to Drift and check my article called 'Killing the Cool?' in the 'On the Road' section. I'm super stoked and will be putting some more stufftogether soon. This an oldie but a goodie of Joe Davies dropping the back knee and stylin'

'Go Scoop'

Although not the most skillfull with a football, hence the new tag 'Scoop' due to his ability to hook the ball skyward at any time, Matt Travis does have the ability to ride the nose with grace. This is 'Scoop' developing his act in Jersey reaching a respectable third in the British Junior Championship.

Sennen Seedling

Sorry for my lack of posts lately. After returning from Jersey we had a brief trip up country to see my folks and catch up with a few people . Part of my Jersey trip was to gather a few portraits of British surfers and this young man is Matt 'Scoop' Travis. Hes another Sennen surfer who has the natural talent and is fast becoming a stylish young surfer. Matt is following in the footsteps of Sam Bleakley and James Parry and came a very respectable third (should have been second, but the judges decided otherwise) in the Junior Division of the British Championships. Those who visit Sennen keep an eye out for Scoop, he soaks up the heritage and style of surfing and then gets loose in the juice.
